Program Overview: The Hairstylist Program at American Beauty Academy is a comprehensive 600-hour curriculum designed to provide students with the technical skills, creativity, and business knowledge needed to succeed in California's beauty industry. The program includes both theory and hands-on training to prepare students for state licensure and professional careers.
Hair Cutting & Styling:
• Basic and advanced haircutting techniques for women, men, and children
• Layering, texturizing, and precision cutting
• Blow-drying, curling, straightening, and updos
• Creative styling for special occasions and fashion trends
Hair & Scalp Health:
• Anatomy and physiology of hair and scalp
• Sanitation, sterilization, and infection control according to California regulations
• Hair and scalp disorders recognition and treatment recommendations
Salon Business & Professional Development:
• Client consultation and communication
• Customer service and retention strategies
• Retailing, marketing, and social media promotion for hairstylists
• Appointment scheduling, sales techniques, and professional ethics
State Licensure Preparation:
• California State Board exam preparation
• Hands-on practice under instructor supervision to build confidence and mastery
Additional Hands-On Experience:
• Work with real clients in a fully equipped student salon
• Portfolio development showcasing styling, coloring, and creative techniques
